Waters V. Cincinnati Insurance Company (2015-2017)

Representation of individuals against home insurer. Case settled for before trial.


In Re Midwest Properties Illinois, LLC (2014-2016)

Represented debtor in successful multi-million dollar Chapter 11 reorganization.


Yates V. United States Of America (IRS)(2012-2014)

Represented client in adversary proceeding against the IRS for a determination that approximately $743,000 in taxes plus hundreds of thousands of dollars in interest and penalties were not non-dischargeable.  After extensive litigation, the IRS stipulated to the dischargeability of the tax liabilities, and the Court ordered all taxes, penalties and interest were discharged as part of the client’s Chapter 7 bankruptcy case.


In Re JMH Trucking, Incorporated (2008-2012)

Represented debtor-corporation in successful multi-million dollar Chapter 11 reorganization.


Finfrock V. United States, 800 F. Supp.2d 651 (C.D. Ill. 2012)

Represented executor of estate in successful suit against the United States Government.  Court held that treasury regulation imposing requirements for special valuation of qualifying real property used for family farm lands or business was invalid.


People V. Tapley (2012)

Successful representation of individual arrested for resisting a police officer during a traffic stop. Following a jury trial, client was found not guilty.


Clark V. Village Of Goodfield (2004-2011)

Represented individual in suit against Village for violations of equal protection and malicious prosecution.  Obtained reversal of trial court’s granting of summary judgment in favor of Village.  Case settled before trial.


Hayes V. Snyder, 546 F.3d 516 (C.A.7 (Ill.), 2008)

Successful representation of former prisoner’s eight amendment claims. Reversal of District Court’s granting of summary judgment. Case settled before trial.


In Re Morine, Inc (Gold’s GYM-Bloomington) (2006-2008)

Represented debtor-corporation in successful multi-million dollar Chapter 11 reorganization.


Vidmar Transportation Co V. Tri Star Marketing Et  Al (2003-2008)

Represented small business (and court appointed Chapter 7 Trustee) in suit for breach of multi-hundred thousand dollar contract.  Obtained reversal by Appellate Court of trial court ruling in favor of defendant. Case settled before trial.


In Re J. And M. Kimbrell (2005)

Represented married individuals in successful Chapter 11 reorganization of their personal and business affairs.


Murphy V. Caterpillar (2002-2004)

Represented individual in age discrimination/retaliation case against employer.  Case settled following jury trial verdict in favor of client.


Trammel V. Kroeschell Operations, Inc (2002-2004)

Represented individual in breach of employment contract action against employer.  Case settled following bench trial verdict in favor of client.

Successfully represented father in the appeal of the termination of his parental rights.

Successful representation of an individual in the appeal of her prison sentence. Obtained reversal of prison sentence on remand.

Lead counsel to lender group comprised of domestic and international lending institutions holding in excess of $200 million of claims in Chapter 11 restructuring of large multi-state retailer.


Karsten Mahlmann (1991-1998)

Co-counsel to Mr. Karsten Mahlmann, former Chairman of the Chicago Board of Trade, in multi-million dollar Chapter 7 bankruptcy case and related adversary proceedings.


The Whitlock Corporation (1996-2002)

Lead counsel to debtor-corporation in successful Chapter 11 reorganization of $200 million multi-state auto parts wholesaler and retailer.


American Speedy Printing Centers (1996-1997)

Lead counsel to debtor-franchiser in successful Chapter 11 reorganization of large, multi-state printing center chain.


Nobart, Inc. (1994-1997)

Lead counsel to The Dai-Ichi Kangyo Bank, Ltd., in connection with its more than $20.0 million of secured and unsecured claims, in the reorganization of one of Chicago’s largest printing and graphics arts companies.


Northwest Airlines (1992-1995)

Lead counsel to lender group comprised of 13 international financial institutions holding in excess of $1.1 billion of debt, in restructuring of $2.3 billion credit facility with airline and its parent company and domestic and foreign subsidiaries.


Interco, Incorporated (1991-1992)

Co-counsel to lending group, comprised of 11 international lending institutions holding in excess of $400 million of claims, in Chapter 11 restructuring of large interstate conglomerate.
